A light blue intaglio crystal cameo depicting a goddess, a spider, and its web with roses at the bottom.  This cameo is influenced by Greek Mythology.  The myth states that  the goddess Athena competed in a weaving contest with a Lydian woman named Arachne.   Arachne's work was indeed better than Athena's.  She chose to depict the romances of the gods in her tapestry.  This angered Athena and the goddess destroyed Arachne's tapestry.  Arachne then hung herself, but Athena saved her by transforming the rope to a cobweb and turning Arachne into a spider, forever weaving masterpieces.  It measures 25 mm x 18 mm (1 1/8" x 3/4").  It is wrapped in sterling silver.  (The color on this cameo has photographed slightly darker than it is.)
